Trump restores local control of DC Police by August 31?
This market will resolve to “Yes” if President Donald Trump restores full local authority over the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to the District of Columbia government by August 31, 2025, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, it will resolve to “No.” Only a signed executive order, presidential memorandum, written directive, or other official government action taken by Trump or his administration that explicitly ends federal control under Section 740 of the Home Rule Act and restores MPD to D.C. control will qualify. Any qualifying action taken by the Trump administration will count regardless of if/when the policy is carried out (e.g. an executive order signed on August 27, which goes into effect September 10 will qualify. The following do not qualify: partial returns; joint command arrangements; transfers of control to any federal entity; court- or Congress-mandated returns without a presidential act. The primary resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
