Which will sell more album units in its first week of release: Kanye’s Donda or Drake’s Certified Lover Boy?
This is a market on whether Kanye West’s album Donda or Drake’s album Certified Lover Boy will sell more album units in their first week of release. The resolution source for this market will be Rolling Stone’s weekly ranking of popular albums, https://www.rollingstone.com/charts/albums/, which ranks albums each week beginning on Friday and going through to the next Thursday. Albums are ranked by Album Units, a number that combines digital and physical album sales, digital song sales, and audio streams, using a custom weighting system. This market will resolve after both albums have been released and the first week album units data is available for both albums. If after both albums have been released, Kanye West’s Donda had a higher number of album units in its first week of release than Drake’s Certified Lover Boy had in its first week of release, this market will resolve to “Kanye.” If after both albums have been released, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy has a higher number of album units in its first week of release than Kanye West’s Donda had in its first week or release, this market will resolve to “Drake.” If first week album unit data is not available for both albums by November 1, 2021, 12:15 PM ET, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the name of either album is changed, this market will consider the next album released by that artist. For both albums, the resolution source will be checked at 12:00 PM ET on the Friday following the album’s appearance on Rolling Stone’s weekly Friday-Thursday album units rankings (e.g. if Donda comes out on Fri, August 13, 2021, its first weekly sales will be checked at 12:00 PM ET, Fri, August 20, 2021).
