Will there be 19 or more named storms during the Atlantic hurricane season?
In Response to Trader Inquiry: This market will resolve according to NOAA’s list of named storms from the Atlantic hurricane season (https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/) AND their data on individual storms (e.g. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/AL012021_Ana.pdf). Note, only storms that are active during the June 1 - November 30 period will be counted, meaning Ana and storms that form in December are excluded. This is a market on whether the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will designate 19 or more named storms during the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, a period lasting from June 1 to November 30. Note, storms that form before the period but are active during it are included in NOAA’s count. This market will resolve according to NOAA’s list of named storms during the Atlantic hurricane season: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/. This market will resolve to “Yes” if NOAA names 19 or more storms during the Atlantic hurricane season. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” In the event of ambiguity in terms of the market outcome, the market will be resolved in good faith at the sole discretion of the Markets Integrity Committee (MIC).
